ONEONTA,
NY (May 10, 2007)
On Saturday
April 28th, 2007 area resident Sandra Collins was elected
to the National Soccer Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Collins,
who first joined the Board of Directors in 1999, served three full terms on
the
Hall of Fame Board, and left the Board in 2006 as the by-laws require.
Serving on the Board of Directors for the National Soccer
Hall of Fame is both a privilege and an honor. I am excited
to join my fellow board members as we celebrate, honor,
inspire, and preserve the history of Soccer in this great
country of ours, Collins stated.
We are very pleased that Sandi is returning to the Board, said
President George Brown. She brings an added dimension
to the Board with her dedication and enthusiasm and I look
forward to working with her once more.
Collins, raised in Oneonta, began attending
Hartwick College soccer matches as a young girl and became
a lifelong supporter
of the game. An avid volunteer, Collins has been on the Schenevus
Board of Education for ten years, has served as high school
assistant coach, and youth soccer coach. A highlight of her
years in soccer is playing in the Oneonta City League alongside
her daughters and winning the League title three times. Collins
is a supporter of local soccer, a fan, and a believer in the
National Soccer Hall of Fames future as the heart
of soccer in the United States. |
